My job was to take the doofy in my hand and attach it to the thingamajigger in the wall (note my excellent use of correct plumbing terminology). This was probably the most difficult part of the operation.

Shutting off the water as I did in step 1 didn't help after all. There was still a trickle of water anyway, as soon as I took apart the thingamajig.

The water never stopped trickling so I decided it would be faster to just attach the pieces together with the water still running. Success!

This rubber thing screws onto the toilet; the seat will slide on over it. There is a small cardboard template attached to the rubber thing; you can see that I've lined it up with the "large toilet" arrows.
