By the way they do not beat people for 23 days in Japan without a lawyer. You don`t know anything about the Japanese legal system.

The police can hold you for 3 days in the local station for initial interrogation. Then they can request that a judge transfer you to a detention centre for 10 more days. They can ask for a further 10 days on top of that. These requests are almost always granted. During this time, the accused does not have the right to speak with or contact counsel.

Good! That is what they get for being such evil bastards! Some people are just too dangerous to be left alive. By the way they do not beat people for 23 days in Japan without a lawyer. You don`t know anything about the Japanese legal system.

"to just be killing people"

Yeah... there just killing people huh?......ok... how about throwing a bone to the real victims. You remember them right? I think it would be enlightening to shed a little light on how these 3 got into the system that just kills people.

@ChrisB: Remember, this is Japan, where crime suspects are held for questioning for 23 days without a lawyer, and where confessions are beaten out of suspects and then used to secure convictions -- well over a 99% conviction rate, actually. Given how guilty verdicts are arrived at here, I think that there is too much room for error to just be killing people.

@Thomas: Singapore commonly sentences people to a beating. Should we really be looking at them as a model of how to be a civilized society?

Singapore isn't a developed country? And I would think that from a hanging you'd be unconscious in about 10 seconds with the rope blocking of the carotid arteries (and hence blood flow to the brain).

"The real cruelty, however, does not lie in the method of execution,"

What a joke. No mention of the real victims in this piece? You remember them? The reason they got this sentence?
How about an in depth about the crimes/murders they committed and the lasting trauma it has caused the families left behind?

Like a famous line from a Clint Eastwood Movie goes:

"Don't just hang em'......HANG EM' HIGH!!!"
